Wooded Landscapes and More

Below are just three photos that I have gleaned from my albums during the past two months. Feel free to share any reflections you have about any of them!

The first three photos were taken on July 7 during the "Soul Care" time slot of our two-week orientation in preparation for our return to Lezhë, Albania, to live and work for the next year. We leave on Monday, August 4. I had visited Park Woods (owned by Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA, USA) to sit under a tree and meditate on our assigned scripture text. And these three photos made me stop and ponder anew.

And a week later, I was trying to find the bird that was roosting on the electrical transformer on the pole in our backyard. I never did find the bird or its nest, if it had one, but I did get this close-up of the top of the transformer. It looks rather sci-fi, but I also wonder how long that small-diameter bolt can hold the heavy transformer on the pole. But I'm sure the engineers have that all figured out.

For me, the dead tree and its green, living surroundings, the tall oak tree stretching high, and the winding path, each lead me to ponder and value my relationship with God and with other people. My prayer would be to not resemble the cold, sterile outlines of the electrical transformer.
